Our Story

We are high school sweethearts that have been married since May 2007. After graduating from Clemson University, we moved to Branson, MO... yes, you read that right... for a year while my husband went through a ministry training program called the Kanakuk Institute. We moved to Atlanta in 2008 and love life in the big city. We started trying to grow our family in 2010 and since that time, have gone through four miscarriages in June 2011 at 12.5 wks, January 2012 at 7 wks, July 2012 at 4.5 wks and February 2013 at 8 wks. In April 2013, we discovered that I am a balanced translocation carrier and this is what was causing all of our losses. As heartbreaking as this journey is, we know that there are so many other couples out there that are going through the same thing. While the road has been tough, my prayer is that God would use our story to encourage others that there is hope and there is a bigger picture. Yes, some days were hard and others were harder, but we serve a big God who knows our pain and loves us through it. For more on our story, you can read these posts...

Your Mercies in Disguise

Broken but hopeful

Update

"And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

On September 19, 2013, we were blessed to welcome our baby boy to our family through adoption. Our hearts are overflowing and we are so thankful that God chose us to be his parents.

"...though sorrow may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning." "Psalm 30:5

  2. Dear Stephanie, thank you so much for sharing your story! I also have a balanced translocation, and your story helped me so much already. I am so happy for your family, and know it was a tough journey.
We live in Atlanta and are currently looking for a good IVF clinic that has experience dealing with balanced translocations. Would you mind sharing the name of your IVF doctor in GA and geneticist in NY, if you'd recommend them?
Thank you so much, your story gives me hope!
