Pacific Northwest Trip

We got back from our (delayed) anniversary trip to the Pacific Northwest on Saturday. This was a trip that we planned back in February and the time has absolutely flown by since then. We are so thankful for both sets of sweet grandparents for loving on our little guy so that we could escape for a week.

We did a Pacific coast cruise that left out of Vancouver and stayed two nights in Vancouver beforehand. This was a part of the country that neither of us have been before and always wanted to go. A cruise was a great way to multiple spots in one trip and I highly recommend it!

We stayed at L'Hermitage in downtown Vancouver and everything about this hotel was absolutely perfect. We got there at noon, because our flight was early and they kept our luggage for us so we could go have lunch and explore. When our room was ready, they took our bags to our room so they'd be there when we got there. The staff went above and beyond and everything had that clean, pristine feel. It was also super convenient for walking since we didn't have a car.

Breakfast the next morning at Cafe Medina which was right downstairs in our hotel. It was so yummy, we went two days in a row. I could've eaten my weight in their waffles with salted caramel dipping sauce.
We spent the morning and early afternoon walking Stanley Park and the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

Our cruise left on Monday, and this was the only day of our entire trip that was rainy.

Our first stop was Seattle and next to Vancouver, this was probably our favorite.

We may have been true tourists and taken a duck tour.

Our next stop was Astoria, Oregon. It was supposed to be San Francisco, but apparently cruises can change their minds on what ports they visit. We found this out a couple months before we left when I was planning to buy Alcatraz tickets. So while we have yet to go to San Francisco, we can say that we've now been to the town where The Goonies was filmed. The husband was much more excited about Astoria after this fact was learned. Still, this ended up being the only pic I took all day.

And for some miscellaneous pics on the ship.

Me to husband: "make an excited face for your Oreo cheesecake".

All in all, it was a really great week and one we certainly do not take for granted. With a little one at home, it only gets harder to make trips like this happen.

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about Finn's 12 month post. I'm just letting the suspense build. Not really... the reality is that I have a 12 month old and have yet to take any pictures where he's sitting still. Stay tuned!
