We flew back in to Atlanta just in time for the storm of the decade! OK, so it wasn't a huge blizzard, but we did manage to get around 5" of snow Monday morning. This was followed by about 2.5" of ice. Both Dustin and I were not able to leave our neighborhood due to the big hill at the entrance. We managed to take down all of our Christmas decorations (finally!), clean out and organize our closets and watch some movies. It was a very productive couple of days!
On snow day number two, we needed to get out of the house so we decided to walk to Publix (0.6 mile away) to get some more firewood and to rent The Social Network from Blockbuster Express. I documented our adventure below.
Here is a sample of the ice that was covering our street.
Our feet were barely sinking- more like cracking the surface!
We glided to Publix successfully and got both the firewood and the movie.
This is the hill at the entrance of our neighborhood. We managed to slide our way back down in a snowboarding-like fashion. I really wish I could have videoed this, but I was nervous I was going to drop my camera.
It has been quite an adventure already in 2011 and we can't wait to see what else it will bring! Happy New Year!
