I just spent 20 minutes researching Snuggies
Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE fall! I love college football, the color orange, pumpkin bread, pumpkin candles, pumpkin spice lattes... basically anything pumpkin. I love the sound leaves make when they crunch beneath your feet. I love scarves and sweatshirts, blankets and flannel sheets. I also love that first cool morning that makes me wear a jacket... which happened to be this morning. When I left for work it was a gloriously brisk 57 degrees and I enjoyed turning my heat on for the first time in my car. This is the great thing about living in Atlanta... we have seasons. In Branson... it goes from being in the 90's in August... to dropping in the 40's in September. This beautiful weather we are having has caused me to spend over 20 minutes researching Snuggies for whatever reason. You know.. the "blankets with sleeves". I have been avoiding it because of the aweful marketing.... but someone was on to something with this invention... and they now have them in pink.

Who wants to wakeboard?
I could pull you behind my car down I-85. A lot of people have asked us about the flooding situation here in Atlanta. Basically, it's been raining for about 7 days straight (over 20 inches just from Friday through Monday). Luckily, we haven't been affected by the flooding.. it has been very close to home though. The good news is that today is the first day that we have seen the sun in over a week! Here are some pictures from around the area:

I'm sorry, it's going to take me how long to get home?
I never understand why radio traffic reporters even try to give detailed reports on rainy days. It has been raining for 3 days straight and my normal 30 minute commute has been stretched to about 45 minutes to an hour because of it each day. This means that I get to hear the traffic report about 9 times. It lasts about 3 minutes and it just gets more depressing each time. Traffic reporters should never say the phrase "I would really hate to be on the roads right now". They should just say "There are too many cars on the road... nobody's really moving anywhere... so just enjoy the music"... and play more music. It's just a thought...
On another note, we had a "Decades" club last night at K-Life -- meaning kids had to dress like their favorite decade and we played games like "name the decade this song came out". I'm not going to lie... I felt a little old with the answers they gave. For example: "MMM Bop"... 80's??? "Callin' Baton Rouge"... 70's??? There was also a game where they had to put different events in chronological order and my group came to a consensus that Lebron James was born in the 70's because "He's old." All in all, it was a fun night. Here are some pictures...

Summer recap...
So this summer, Dustin and I went to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico with our friends, Heather & Matt Nelsen and Meagan & Chris Hostetler. We had an amazing time! (Minus some complications with our air conditioning situation). A few weeks later, we spent a week in Annapolis with my family. Dustin got to experience everything Maryland from crabcakes to the Orioles. We also got to spend a few days in Washington D.C. Here are a few pictures...
President Obama wasn't home... he was golfing in the Hamptons... while carefully contemplating health care I'm sure...

Second time's the charm...
Let's try this again... I realize that I started this quite some time ago, but today I was thinking "I really want to have a blog so that family and friends can keep up with what is going on in our lives". Thus, I am going to try and be more diligent in posting... we'll see how this goes. Since it has been 20+ months since I started this, here is what has been going on in a nutshell:
1. Dustin graduated from the Kanakuk Institute in April 2008 and we moved from the booming metropolis of Branson, MO to a small town called Atlanta, GA.
2. Dustin is on staff with Atlanta K-Life here in Buckhead and ministers to kids from 3rd through 12th grade. I work at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston as the special events coordinator. Basically, I plan fun events and VIP visits for our patients. We both absolutely LOVE our jobs!
3. We LOVE our church! We are involved at Buckhead Church (a satellite of North Point Community Church) led by Andy Stanley and lead a married small group.
4. It is now football season. Enough said.
